EULITA on BBC Radio Four: UK risks breaking a new EU Directive
EULITA, the body, representing interpreters across Europe, is warning that the UK risks breaking a new EU Directive due to come into force in October. Liese Katschinka, who is the President of EULITA, says the rules state that a country cannot allow its services to deteriorate.
“All the indications that you have right now are that this new system is certainly lowering the standards and this may well be interpreted as a regression. The lowering of the standards that previously existed and does the violation of the non-regression clause of the directive.”
