FOI request for breakdown of assignments by tiers
Dear Ministry of Justice,
On 28th March 2013, a statistical bulletin was published titled ‘Statistics on the use of language services in courts and tribunals’ covering the period 30 January 2012 to 31 January 2013. On page 23 of this bulletin, there is list of categories of complaints, within which is the category of Operational issues. Operation issues include: incorrect tier assigned (the customer has requested a specific tier of assignment and an incorrectly tiered interpreter was assigned).
In order for the MoJ to have an effective and robust complaints system, it is implausible that the MoJ does not gather and retain data on the requested tier and supplied tier for individual assignments. In consideration of the above comments I request to be supplied with the following information.
1. In November 2012, a total of 10,532 assignments were fulfilled by the contractor under the Language services framework contract. When these assignments were placed on the booking portal by the collaborative partner, how many requests were made for a Tier 1 assignment, how many were for Tier 2, and how many were for Tier 3?
2. In respect of the Tier 1 requests in November 2012, how many of these were fulfilled using a Tier 2 interpreter, and how many were fulfilled with a Tier 3 interpreter?
3. In respect of the Tier 2 requests in November 2012, how many of these were fulfilled using a Tier 3 interpreter?
4. In December 2012, a total of 7,909 assignments were fulfilled by the contractor under the Language services framework contract. When these assignments were placed on the booking portal by the collaborative partner, how many requests were made for a Tier 1 assignment, how many were for Tier 2, and how many were for Tier 3?
5. In respect of the Tier 1 requests in December 2012, how many of these were fulfilled using a Tier 2 interpreter, and how many were fulfilled with a Tier 3 interpreter?
6. In respect of the Tier 2 requests in December 2012, how many of these were fulfilled using a Tier 3 interpreter?
7. In January 2013, a total of 9,810 assignments were fulfilled by the contractor under the Language services framework contract. When these assignments were placed on the booking portal by the collaborative partner, how many requests were made for a Tier 1 assignment, how many were for Tier 2, and how many were for Tier 3?
8. In respect of the Tier 1 requests in January 2013, how many of these were fulfilled using a Tier 2 interpreter, and how many were fulfilled with a Tier 3 interpreter?
9. In respect of the Tier 2 requests in January 2013, how many of these were fulfilled using a Tier 3 interpreter?
Yours faithfully,
